Late in 2005 I received a phone call from my college roommate, Darryl
Hersant, who had been living in Berlin for twenty years. He said
that he was planning to take his sailboat Moira (without sails) on a
canal trip from Berlin to Amsterdam, and asked if I would like to make
the trip with him. The trip would take about three weeks. It
would start from the Wannsee on the outskirts of Berlin and go basically
due west to the Ems river, turn north to Emden on the North Sea, then
west to the Netherlands and follow a variety of Dutch canals to
Amsterdam.
Needless to say, I jumped at the chance ... and the
rest is now history.
Out of the 3500 photos that I took during the month of May 2006 in
Germany and the Netherlands, I have picked out 58 that I hope will tell
the story in a way that you can enjoy. If you'd like to see more,
they are available!
