Cinque Terre

-- We headed north and west from Cavriglia to the northern Mediterranean shore of Italy and an area known as Cinque Terra (five towns).  The five towns are linked by footpath along the rocky cliffs, and by train.  Many hikers walk the path between two or more towns, then use the train to return to their origin.  The towns themselves are built along steep slopes.  Of course, the only parking available to tourists is as the very top of the hill.  If you visit here, pack a light bag that you can carry down the hill to the hotel ... and back.
