| The oldest member of our Linder family known at present is
Jakob Linder, father of Jakob Linder. The son married Elisa Hotz in 1866,
when both were living in Herzogenbuchsee,
Canton Bern, Switzerland. They had four children in Switzerland:
Frank, Adolph Edward, Albert, and Flora Marie (baptized Maria Flora).

LEGACY OF JAKOB LINDER
The following email from cousin Harry Newby provides additional
information about Jakob Linder and legal proceedings following his death.

Subject: Jacob & Elise
Hi Roy Thanks for the message. If you stop in Herzogenbuchee remember
that my cousin Adrian Kupfer operates apothacary on Banhoff Strasser about
three blocks up from the railroad station. He is often out so I usually send
him a card with my arrival date and approximate time.
My friend Virginia and I plan to go to San Diego for the wedding of Colleen
Schoelz, Mimi's oldest daughter, on October 11th.
Re: Jacob and Elise. I do not think that Jacob remarried. After his death
his children brought a suit to overturn the administration of the will.
Frank had given the will to an attorney that the other family members did
not believe should administer it. Frank joined the suit. The administrator
won the suit and I have the appellate brief. In the suit there was no
mention of another wife. Evidently Jacob lived in his shop. The testimony in
the trial describes a very bleak standard of living. Makes me wonder how the
sons managed such a good education? We will have to find more vital
statistics on Bertha Linder. It may be that she was an infant, not known to
or mentioned by other family members. In any case, along with the maiden
name of Anna G., we have another question.
Harry
