Don Walters
sent the following note on 9/29/08I'm sorry to have to send you the sad
news that our old high school friend, Ron Sullivan passed on this
morning about 9:30am. He has been very sick with cancer for a long time
and I guess he was just to tired to go on anymore. He put up a great
fight and kept his wonderful humor to the last. It doesn't look as
though Bondi and I can get out to the West Coast. His son Jason told us
they will be having a memorial service at his brother Nathan's house Thurs
or Fri of this week. We will miss him. Roy, if you could pass
this along to others in the class, we would appreciate it. Thanks, Don
Walters

A report that Roger Widmier was killed in an automobile
accident several years ago was provided by Marv Korn '55. He learned
of the news from a niece of Roger's at the funeral of Roger's brother
Gerald '55.
Ferne Russler reported seeing an obituary for Pete Frandsen in the
KC Star on July 5. The information matches that in our database, so
it appears that it is our classmate. Although Pete did not attend
our 50th reunion, he had corresponded by email prior to the event. A
copy of the obituary has been placed in the biographical data section of
his record in the database, which may be viewed via the
Classmates Only section of the
website. (07/10/08)
Jory (Joe) Moraine, who was with us
for our Freshman and Sophomore years, sent the following email. "What
a great website. I went to Paseo in 1953-1955 and enjoyed those years
very much. My family moved from K.C. so I lost touch with all my friends
from Paseo High. Had I remained in K.C., I would have been in the Class
of '57. I see many familiar names on your website. I have often wondered
what became of many of you. My favorite teacher was Ms. Francis
Wray...what a wonderful old lady...anyone remember her?"

The Kansas City Star carried an obituary for

Flowers, contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs. (Arr: D.W. Newcomer's

recent meetings of the Paseo Alliance, a group that currently has
participation from members of classes from the 50's and 60's. The
next meeting of the group will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb 6, at
the Trailside Center, 99th & Holmes, next to the fire station. Key

Garrett, who spent only the eighth grade year with us, was a pilot for
Pan Am and United Airlines and is now retired in Punta Gorda, FL.
Jon Fowler, who was with us through our junion year, now lives in
Joplin, MO. Both have been added to the database and contact list in
the Classmates Only page.

Jerry Gershman reported the passing of
Gary Agron late on the evening of October 23 in Sedalia due to recurrence of cancer.
His wife, Lori, said Gary was heavily sedated and passed away peacefully
at home. Graveside services were conducted at Laurel Oak Cemetery in
Windsor, Mo., approximately 25 miles south of Sedalia. For those who
knew Gary and wish to send a card, Lori's address is 1217 S. Barrett,
Sedalia, Mo. 65301. (10/24/07)
Gary's obituary appeared in the KC Star on 11/08/07.
Gary Agron, whose cancer was in remission a year ago, is now in
serious condition and is expected to go into hospice soon. We will
be thinking of Gary and Lori in the days ahead. (09/06/07)
Tom Flathers reports from Peculiar, MO, that an operation will keep
him and his wife, Shirley, from attending the reunion. We wish them
both well. (09/05/07)
Wolfgang Rommel sent his regrets, saying that important business
negotiations will prevent his attending the reunion, but sent best wishes
to members of the class. See his full
note. 08/27/07.
Today
someone sent me a Reece-Nichols real estate listing for the house where I grew
up and attended Paseo.
It is located at 917 E 76th Terrace,
a half-block west of Troost. Built in 1929, it is ten years older
than we are! ...Roy 06/20/07
In a telephone call with Neil Planzer we
learned that his sister, Carol Ann Planzer Weinstock, is now
living in Israel. She is not in good health and probably will not be
able to return for the reunion. 06/08/07
John Enness appears to be the first to
respond to our "Save the Date" postcards sent out on Sunday, April 15.
John Reece enlisted the aid of grandchildren Katie, Wyatt and Lexi
to label and stamp the cards. Phyllis Aaron Stevens got the
cards designed and produced. Increased activity on the website indicated
that a number of classmates received the cards on Tuesday and Wednesday.
04/18/07
Ann Krumsick Grimes called to say that
she is moving with her son's family to Seoul, Korea, this summer.
She regrets that this will probably cause her to miss our reunion in
October. 03/05/07
Jim and Nancy Cook Hooke, Gary and
Carolyn Audsley Newman, Ron and Audrey Barnes Roberts, and Roy and
Jan Busdiecker got together on Feb 20 for the 2d Annual Micro-Reunion

In case you've missed the notices , our 50th Reunion is set for
October 12-14, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center. If you plan to stay at the Hyatt
and have not yet reserved your room, it would be a good idea to do so now.

Gary Agron reports that his cancer, recently in

Five 1957 classmates met at a meeting of the
Paseo 1950's Alliance. Carol Huseby (now known as Jeanne
McGuire), Sandy
Nichols, Shelton Gallas, John Reece and Roy Busdiecker joined
around 25 members of classes of the 50's at the Trailside Center, 9901
Holmes, to talk, enjoy refreshments, and learn a little about the goals of
the group. Roy presented a demonstration of the Alliance website at
www.paseohighschool.org.

Bill and
Phyllis Aaron Stevens' son,
Hampton Stevens, is a writer for KC Magazine. In the November
2006 issue Hampton has a fun article on his racing-car drive around the
Kansas Speedway (apparently a one-time event!).

Lee Wetherhorn reports from Elazar,
Israel, that he just retired last month. Lee says that his son was
called up for reserve duty during the recent conflict with Lebanon, but
was not part of the group that went into Lebanon. 10/11/06
Paseo 1950's Alliance is the
name of a group that is working to provide
opportunities for classes of our decade to get together and renew old
friendships beyond our individual classes. One proposed goal is to assemble
and maintain a history of the original Paseo High School. For
details, see the Paseo 1950's Alliance page on its website at
www.PaseoHighSchool.org
If anyone in the Kansas City area would like to participate, please
contact Roy Busdiecker.

On May 2, Wolfgang Rommel joined Roy
Busdiecker
and
Darryl Hersant (Roy's college roommate), for a wonderful and full
afternoon recalling ancient history. Wolfgang brought along his 1957
Paseon and other memorabilia
from his time in KC. The good news is that Wolfgang and his wife
Lilo plan to attend our 50th Reunion next year. There is one
possible conflict on Wolfgang's
calendar, but he should know definitely before the end of this month.
Many of you asked me to give him your greetings and best wishes. I
did that on behalf of the entire class, and assured him that all of us are
looking forward to having him join us at our 50th reunion next year.
Roy and Darryl are currently about 11 km east of Dokkum, the Netherlands,
aboard sailboat Moira in Jachthaven Lunegat. 05/15/06
Just got a
note from my friends in Berlin that Wolfgang Rommel will travel
from Hamburg to Berlin to have dinner with us this coming Tuesday evening,
May 2. This will be the first time that I have seen him since (I
believe) our 25th reunion. 04/29/06
Ninety tornados struck Missouri on Sunday, March 12, 2006.
There was one in Kansas that hit Lawrence and disrupted KU, and a total of
113 in the Midwest, according to the KC Star. Several of the
Missouri twisters hit just outside of Sedalia, where classmate Gary
Agron and his his wife Lori live. I called Gary just
after the TV storm track looked as if it had gone right through Gary's
home (comparing TV map to Google maps). Gary said that the twister,
and later another one, missed his home but left a yard full of hail.
We were pleased to hear of his good fortune, but sad to hear that others
had perished in the storm. 03/14/06

I am sorry to report the death
of Linda Larison, which we learned during the process of trying to
locate our remaining "lost classmates". No details are known at this
time.
Classmate volunteers are
making phone calls to everyone we can find. This response is
typical.
"I was so glad to hear from a classmate. I
thought that after the school was torn down that everyone lost interest.
Thank you for all your work and effort on the class website. It is
outstanding and I loved looking at the pictures. I will anxiously
await word about the Reunion. ... Milly Byers Haggard"
Please help us pass the word to everyone.
We just learned on Oct 30 of the untimely passing of Herb Cox,
