Paseo 57 - 50th Reunion Update #2

Since the last update:
- The first meeting of the Reunion Committee was held on August 27. After discussing discussing past reunion (hospitality suite at the 97 reunion was too small and too hot), dates to avoid (high school and college graduations for grandchildren) and the weather (not too hot, not too cold), the committee decided to aim for early- to mid-October 2007, with the first choice being a location on or near the Country Club Plaza.
- Our Classmate Search has made very good progress in the past three months. We now have verified contact information for 145 classmates, roughly double the number that we had prior to the last reunion. Around 25 more should not be hard to verify. Of those who have missed one or more previous reunions, many have said that they plan on attending this one. This promises for a big turnout at our 50th.
- Communication via the website seems to be reaching many classmates. Www.paseo57.org has had over 2000 hits compared to 180 at the beginning of the year. Then there were about 4 pages on the website. Today there are around 48 pages and about 80 photos. We currently have email addresses for 101 classmates, and cellphone numbers for 38.
Ongoing actions:
- The challenge: we have already followed up on the best leads, and are nearing the end of the easy ones. The 36 listed as Lost, and about 35 of those still needing verification will be more difficult. Our best chance of finding them is through classmates who know where they are, or may be in contact with their friends or family, or even have a clue to offer. We do not want to leave anyone out, and we need your help in finding the lost. Please take a look at the list and see if there is someone you can help find, and then let us know.
- Unfortunately, from a statistical point of view, one or more of the lost may no longer be with us. If you know of any deceased members of the class, we would like to share that information as well.
- If you have an email address or cellphone number and have not provided details to the committee, please send us the information now.
- We are investigating hotels in the area of the Plaza to determine availability, capacity and costs for guest rooms, hospitality suites, and banquet facilities. We will also look at the Crown Center area and perhaps one or two others. We will discuss the results at the next meeting of the reunion committee.
Next meeting of the reunion committee:
- Another meeting of the reunion committee is tentatively planned for February 2006.
